Camponotus Camelinus
Camponotus Camelinus is rare to the hobby and not often seen. Information about them is limited so we are only able to speculate using feedback from our collector and from our research.
They are a large species of carpenter ant native to asia, although we can not locate official queen sizes we measure her at 18-20mm.
Kept in the same conditions as Singularis (she looks similar but with a black/gold shimmering head instead of red). They have laid a small batch of eggs and appear happy in 24-25 degrees.
We have advised that they are for advanced keepers purely to the lack of information and experienced keepers will be able to notice behavioural patterns and adjust their environment accordingly.
Typically found living in and around wood, they are most active at sunrise and sunset, scaling trees to harvest honeydew and insects alike. They have a sweet tooth as well as a very docile but defensive nature.
They are a tropical species and do not require hibernation.
