Camponotus Micans - Beginner
Found in the warmer parts of Europe this black carpenter ant is a striking species with beautiful silver bands on the gaster. They are aggressive and have an acid so should be ventilated (ideally providing a thin layer of substrate to absorb excess).
Micans are slower growing than most and in the wild they are sound outside of the woodland reach in bordering grassland. Nests can be found under stones in the sun where brood will be taken to develop faster.
