A dream species.
A queen which sits at 30-35mm is an impressive sight, finding one for sale is another feat of luck. In the wild nuptials may happen every 6 months but the mating flight can mean queens travel miles and are hard to find. With this species, territory is large and nests are seemingly few and far between.
This is a species most keepers dream of one day finding, ours, from Malaysia are no exception to the dream list for us either.
In the wild they can be found in deep soil nests around rotting and dead vegetation (like a jungle floor) and they consume large amounts of proteins to grow the brood. Sugars in constant supply will keep them full of energy too.
You will find this the slowest growing and most rewarding colony you own which will be the envy of all other keepers. (if of course you get it right)
