Polyrhachis Furcata– Spiny Ant - Intermediate
RARE
This species of polyrhachis is great for any collection. With their furry black and red thorax and legs they are noticeable by their distinct spines. They are a spectacular and welcome addition to the store.
Typically in nests of up to 400 workers they favour low level brancges to form their nests.
They love farming honeydew from insects and they will also scavenge recently deceased insects locally.
Interestingly they are not aggressive at all, they are very shy and secretive. with the threat of danger they seemingly just leave in a calm and collected way.
Being a small species, this would make a perfect addition to a natural habitat and the small numbers mean you will not need heaps of space either.
