Polyrhachis Thrinax– Red Thumpers - Intermediate
If you are looking for a captivating Polyrhachis colony which will entertain you for hours and without the need for a massive setup then look no further.
Thrinax workers are a striking orange/red colour and only have small colonies up to 400 workers. They adore sugars and do not require vast amounts of proteins either.
Nesting low to the ground they can be observed being seemingly sporadic and agitated by intruders. They rhythmically tap their gasters to warn off predators and give the impression of being a bigger force than they really are (hence why we have named them, Red Thumpers)
