Don't chase your ants around the house because you have no barier.
 
Slippy feet - OIL is an effective solution for a barrier which remains wet and creates a layer that the ants can not grip too.
 
Usage instructions:
Make sure area is clean and dry
Apply an even layer 1 to 2 inches thick around the edge of the area you wish to prevent ants escaping using a cotton wall ball or swab. 
Clean away any runs with kitchen towel, only use a small amount of slippy feet to prevent it.
If the barrier wares down, thin layers can be applied ontop.
Re-apply every 2 to 3 weeks.
